2019 RICHARD M. MILANOVICH FELLOWS
Arial Bowsher is a member of the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas and Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. She completed a B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Fort Lewis College and has served as Type II Wildland Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician. Arial has an internship at the National Indian Health Board. She is also working as a Project Coordinator for All Native Groups a Division of Ho-Chunk Incorporated. She plans to pursue an M.D. with the long-term focus of advocating for Native American Healthcare issues.
Caressa Nguyen is a member of the Ione Band of Miwok Indians, Vietnamese, and Filipino. She is passionate about indigenous food sovereignty and building the next economy. Caressa attends The Evergreen State College studying Economics and Sustainability while preparing to launch a sustainable fashion line. Caressa has studied climate change in Bolivia, Morocco, Peru, United States, and Vietnam and has plans to work internationally in her career on environmental issues and empowering indigenous peoples. She has an internship with United States Senator Dianne Feinstein.
